New word on a lawsuit filed by Eminem May Result in Higher Royalties for all older artists. Here’s what going on. F.B.T. Productions, the company that originally signed Eminem filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group over money from digital sales.
The basis of the lawsuit is that the original contract with Eminem was written is such a manner as to grant a license rather than a sale. This becomes important because a license would pay the artist 50 percent of the song while a sale would payout 12 percent. Currently, Eminem is only seeing the 12%.
